Film Synopsis Two

Afternoon in a house.
The film begins with a young boy playing on a Playstation in his bedroom. He is around the age of nine and dressed in his primary school uniform. We see many close up shots that do not show his face, but show his relaxation in the game he is playing; ‘The Sims on Play Station 2.’
A cut takes us to a teenage girl around the age of 14 in another bedroom. In her secondary school uniform she is tidying some clothes. An older woman (the girl’s mother) comes in and places some more clothes on her bed. The mothers face is never seen as she is shot from the neck down. When she has gone, the girl takes a seat on her bed and rummages through a small draw. She pulls out a diary and begins writing in it. We see the sentences, ‘It’s so difficult,’ and ‘I miss him.’ The girl then puts the diary down and picks up a photo frame which is hidden in the draw. The picture shows her and an older man hugging. She shows signs of thought in her face with a small smile of hope.
A fade out.

Evening.
The same girl, now dressed in dark smart clothes, is in her bathroom attending to her hair. She moves towards the sink and goes to take her tooth brush. In the tooth brush pot there are three brushes; two pink and one blue. Before taking her brush she freezes. She touches the other two brushes. She stares for a long moment as if she can imagine a brush which is not there, before closing her eyes in a moment of nostalgia. She then snaps out of her thoughts and continues in brushing her teeth.
Back in the young boys bedroom he is struggling to put on a tie. He attempts many knots before the girl is seen in his door way. She smiles at him and laughs at his struggles, before turning him around to knot the tie for him from over his shoulders. Now, in their dark and smart clothes they both look ready to go out somewhere. He turns back around as she nods and smiles once again. “Ready?” she asks, as he nods. They begin walking downstairs, who is in the kitchen, and into their living room.

The girl looks at the living clock which reads 6.30pm. The girl walks to the front window and looks out into the street. Times ticks on. A few camera cuts show a passing of time. The girl looks at the clock again as it reads 7.00pm. She walks back to the window and looks out into the street again. A passing car catches her eye as she gets excited, before realising it is not of anyone she knows. More time passes.
Fade out.
A passing of time could be shown with a sped up camera shot from in the road, showing the night time approaching as darkness falls.
Fade in.
The two children are sitting together at the window looking extremely bored and saddened. The girl looks out of the window and then back into the living room. Her mum, who is in the hall way, is trying to stay calm while arguing down the phone... “Sorry doesn’t really cut it! They’ve been waiting for you for an hour and a half. They haven’t seen you in weeks! Just don’t say you will if you won’t!”
The clock reads 8.30pm. The girl looks at the boy for long moment before warmly smiling and friendlily taking his hand. She cheekily asks, ‘Do you fancy a game of Playstation?’
He smiles back as the two get up and leave the room.
The end.
